16 Disappointing Movies of 2014

The past three years of Bollywood have been fascinating. New concepts and small-budget films with a great idea had made a great impact. Be it 'Barfi!', 'Madras Café','Gangs of Wasseypur', 'OMG', 'English Vinglish', 'Paan Singh Tomar' or 'Vicky Donor', every year gave the audience something new to cherish.

Sadly, this year was a complete disappointment. Once again, the tried and tested Masala entertainers tried to hog the limelight and box-office positions. Every promising movie ended up being much below the expectations.

Let us have a look at the movies that made huge promises but made 2014 a very forgettable year.

1. Yaariyan:

College romance along with chart-topping songs. The youth-section was curiously waiting for the movie to release. It ended up being nothing but a waste of time.

2. Jai Ho:

Public loves Salman Khan. That doesn't mean you make any random movie where the main topic gets only 30 minutes of screen space while other crap takes away the remaining 2 hours. This movie proved nothing lasts forever, not even Salman's stardom.

3. Gunday:

gunday

We were promised with loads of fun and bromance between Arjun and Ranveer, and one amazing periodic saga of love, friendship and betrayal. YRF proved that no matter how amazing the story could have been, they still prefer putting in a love triangle and ruining the movie.

4. Bewakoofiyan:

Too many expectations from Ayushmann Khurana makes one commit the bewakoofi of watching this movie.

5. Revolver Rani:

Dear Kangana, not every movie script, where you get all the footage, is as good and refreshing as 'Queen'.

6. Humshakals:

One mistake can be forgiven Sajid. Just one. Not the other one. Especially when you get such a huge star cast and go everywhere promising your movie to be a laughter riot.

7. Ek Villian:

Admit it! The performances by Ritiesh Deshmukh and Siddharth Malhotra were awesome but the storyline was not up to the mark! We surely expected a lot from Mohit Suri after 'Aashiqui 2'.

8. Bobby Jasoos:

Umm…should this even be counted? Vidya's failed efforts to make a comeback and become the '4th Khan' again.

9. Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya:

Average performer at the box-office, the movie was no-where close to 'DDLJ' whom it tried to give a tribute.

10. Kick:

SCRIPT:

The first half of the movie is unbearable. The second half is still better. STARCAST: Now add Salman Khan to the movie (Highest Grossing Movie Ensured). DIALOGUES and ACTION: Bhai style one-liners and action scenes (Whistles Ensured). But wait…we have bhai! We need to add something more…here it goes: After a random and badly directed 2 hours into the movie, we see why Salman turned into a thief- BECAUSE BHAI HAS A HEART OF GOLD.

(Entire theatre sobs….Movie Blockbuster Hit).

11. Entertainment:

The speciality of this movie is that it would be loved by kids. But when they grow up and see this movie again, they would regret liking it.

12. Mary Kom:

After 'Bhag Milkha Bhag', we were expecting another larger-than-life biopic. But Mary Kom is an example of bad direction. The movie failed to leave an impact. The only person who emerges as the winner is Priyanka Chopra and the tagline used for promoting the movie- Women Empowerment.

13. Bang Bang!:

bang bang

While we were expecting a blockbuster hit with high-octane action sequences and sizzling chemistry by the lead actors, 'Haider' playing in the next screen stole the show.

14. Happy New Year:

Farah Khan's attempt to heal the wounds she, her husband and her brother had left on us made the wounds deeper. The movie did have its share of entertaining and funny scenes but overall was a BIG disappointment. “Never-seen-before avatar” of SRK ended up being the “we-never-want-to-see-it-again avatar”.

15. Kill Dil:

Fine example of Déjà vu.

Ranveer Singh's bromance with another actor. Here too he gets the heroine. Once again it was produced by YRF. Once again the promotions made us believe it would be one amazing action-drama with romance, dance and bullets. Once again, it made us come out cursing the makers.

16. Action Jackson:

R.I.P Indian Audience. Yours Sincerely, Prabhu Deva- the one who introduced South-Indian style masala entertainers with 'Wanted'.

We wish you all speedy recovery from the trauma imparted to you throughout the year. Hopefully, the next year would be less traumatic, unless your doctors still insist on selling expensive medicines that have no effects but only side-effects.
