5 Scariest Hollywood Horror Movies of All Time

A few horror movies can send chills to your spine for days together. Watching a horror movie late in the night; you sure will need an accomplice to the restroom. You might also want to check below your bedpost after watching the horror movies, if there are any zombies hiding beneath your bed. Scary, isn't it? Directors use wacky vegetable soups to show puke coming out of the possessed. Now do not tell us you've lost your appetite for this appetiser. We understand, it is not exactly a very appetising fact. A few scary movies can really chase the daylights out of ya!


Rosemary's Baby, dated 1968, directed by Roman Polanski, is one of the scariest movies of all time. It is a story about a woman married to a narcissistic megalomaniac of a husband, who conditionally ignores her fears and phobias during her pregnancy. She slowly and helplessly frails into the pit of witches who act as her considerate neighbours. Unaware her husband has signed off his soul to Satan and promised him his child; she goes through emotional and psychological turmoil second-guessing his every move to the point of questioning her own sanity. In the end, she is left with no other option by resign to her fate and unwillingly be a part of their covenant.

The Blair Witch Project is a horror film made in the format of an experimental film in 1999 by three amateur filmmakers who have also acted in the film. This movie generated much curiosity for many years. This was made to look like a supposedly true story based on a folklore surrounding Burkittsville in Maryland. This movie was made to look so real that one would remain stirred up for a long time after watching it. Three students go into deep woods in search of the Blair Witch who is known to have kidnap children for sinister purpose. They get lost in the woods and neither can find their way back. They are mysteriously killed one after another. The treatment of this movie is very different compared to the usual ones. A must watch!

The Conjuring, based on the lives of paranormal investigators, Ed Warren and Lorraine Warren. This is about the paranormal events that take places in Harrisville. The duos have an occult museum in their house, where they display the objects collected from paranormal sites. This movie is based on a true story about one of their paranormal investigations where they help a family that is tormented by demonic and malevolent spirits. The husband and wife duo has written many books about their investigations.

The Amityville Horror is a supposedly true story based on many murders and incidents that have taken place in this colonial Dutch house at 112 Oceans Avenue in Amityville. This is one of the most infamous paranormal sites for notorious murders of the Defoe family. The Lutz family that stayed here are said to leave the house as it is and flee with nothing but their clothes on. The movie based on this story has been made 13 times until now. This palatial house is still on sale. It has been sold many times and for a while it was empty for a couple of years as people didn't want t buy it because of its notorious history.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose is based on the true story of Anneliese Michel. She was of German descent born in 1952. Exorcism was performed on her nearly 67 times. She died at the young age of 23. This movie deals with war between religious beliefs and scientific proof and possibilities. This movie deals with Pagan and Christian beliefs. The trial scene in the end is very convincing and shot intelligently. A movie not to be missed!
