'Azhar' released last week and it’s Wednesday already. And forgive me, but I have still not been able to get over Emraan Hashmi’s earnest performance as the former Captain of Indian Cricket team Mohammad Azharuddin!
Is he the same artist who used to play the "act-cool-and-bed-the-girl" kind of roles in the start of his career?
Is he the same actor whose movie used to be a strict “no-no” for the family audiences?
Here's one man whose rise and improvement as an actor needs to be mentioned and appreciated. Let us have a look at the seven times he completely nailed it on-screen with his acting chops:
There are films I regret not watching on the big screen, and ‘Awarapan’ is one such movie! Sitting on my couch watching him play a character filled with a plethora of emotions, Hashmi stunned me with his terrific performance and proved that he is the dark horse of the industry who has a long…long way to go.
Now this one’s a personal favorite of all Emraan Hashmi fans, no? ‘Jannat’ is must watch for Emraan’s performance as the deceptive and greedy Arjun who always has a spark in his eyes every time he has money in his hand, and can go to any lengths to get the girl he loves. Such roles are made for him, and he has kept proving it time and again with more of such flicks like ‘Jannat 2’ and ‘Raja Natwarlal’.
Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai
You know how wonderfully Emraan had lived his character of the dark and evil Shoaib on-screen, when even a superstar like Akshay Kumar (who reprised Hashmi’s role in the sequel to the film) failed to surpass the bar set by him!
A completely different flick from what Emraan’s audience expects from him; and also one of his best performances till date- ‘Shanghai’ was more about its characters than actors. And no one would have, even in their wildest dreams, though that Emraan would turn out to be the show-stealer as the desi-guy Joginder Parmar who is filled with insecurities, smiles like a creep and lets his silence speak for him most of the times.
Hamari Adhuri Kahani
After Shah Rukh Khan if there’s one actor who looks convincing as a romantic actor with tears in his eyes, while delivering romantic lines and looking into the eyes of his lady love, then it has to be Emraan Hashmi.
This film belongs to Hashmi. Be it nodding his head like Azhar or walking like him, he captures it all with perfection. And it’s not just about the mannerisms; it is also about carrying off a role with such ease and maturity. He will make you sympathize with his character, will make you fall in love with his performance and make you want more of him as ‘Azhar’.
More of such performances, Mr. Hashmi, please. And we hope your ‘Tigers’ gets an Indian release ASAP!
: Yes, the ‘Serial Kisser’ tag won’t leave him…no wonder it is the headline of this article too! *winks*
