Hear the name 'Shah Rukh Khan' and immediately an image of him spreading his arms, la DDLJ style comes to your mind. But before he earned the tag of this romantic guy of your dreams, Shah Rukh used to play negative characters onscreen. In fact he even won awards for some of these roles! It was only with Yash Chopra's 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayege', that the actor underwent a complete image makeover. Suddenly he was this guy whom every girl wished to romance.


We take a trip down the memory lane and bring to you 6 instances when Shah Rukh Khan played a baddie.


1. 'Baazigar'

Shah Rukh played the role of a murderer in this revenge drama. This was his first anti-hero role. Directed by Abbas Mustan, the film released in 1993 and also starred Kajol and Shilpa Shetty. The film was a commercial blockbuster then, and the first film of the famous Shah Rukh- Kajol jodi. Shah Rukh Khan won the Best Actor award at the Filmfare awards that year.


2. 'Darr'

The actor played the role of an obsessive lover in this psychological thriller, which was directed by Yash Chopra. Khan's stammering in the film and the usage of the phrase of 'I love you Kkkiran' became very popular with the audience. People still remember his evergreen dialogues. The film won the National Award for Best Popular Film in 1993. The songs of the film were a huge hit.


3. 'Anjaam'

Shah Rukh Khan once again played the role of an obsessive lover in this film, opposite Madhuri Dixit. The film focussed on the atrocities committed against women. This was the first time when Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit were paired together. The actor even won Filmfare Best Villain Award for his performance.


4. 'Duplicate'

This film saw him portraying a double role, where one character was a bad guy and the other a good one. The film also starred Juhi Chawla and Sonali Bendre. However it failed to perform well at the box office.


5. 'Don: The Chase Begins Again'

After a gap of 15 years, the actor played a negative character in Farhan Akhtar's 2006 film, 'Don: The Chase Begins Again.' The film was a remake of the 1978 Amitabh Bachchan starrer hit film 'Don'.


6. 'Don 2'

In 2011, Shah Khan was back playing a grey character in 'Don 2', which was sequel of 'Don: The Chase Begins Again.'
