7 Sequels Which Lived Up To Expectations

7 Sequels Which Lived Up To Expectations

Or you may call it 'Blockbuster 2' or 'Phir Blockbuster' or else 'Blockbuster Returns'. The point is, if a movie is a hit and generates money to the producers, all they need to do is convert the movie into a franchise and produce another movie with the same characters in new situations or as continuation to the first part.

So, let us look at the various sequels of Bollywood that are worth your time and Claps and have managed to be as good/better than the previous installment.

1. Don 2:

don 2

It takes lots of creativity and exceptional talent to remake a classic and make it even more successful than the original one. But that just wasn't it! The makers decided to make a sequel to their 2006 hit 'Don' and this time, making it at par with international movie standards and brilliant cinematography in an era when every other film teams were busy making mindless south-indian movie remakes. 'Don 2' had the word 'WOW' written all over it right from the direction to the performances.

2. Lage Raho Munnabhai:

The first one was a beautiful laughter riot with a social message. It was original and left many with tears in their eyes. No one expected the sequel to be again at par with the first one, with a completely different story. And once again, the adorable duo of Munna and Circuit won millions of hearts with Gandhigiri.

3. Krrish:

krrish

'Koi Mil Gaya' was a huge success and it put Hrithik Roshan's career back on track after a string of failures. 'Krrish', despite of being a sequel to this great film, belonged to a completely different genre. It belonged to the superhero genre and ended up being the first succesful superhero movie of India with which every kid connected instantly! And for us now, Indian Superhero means none other than Hrithik Roshan.

4. Murder 2:

murder 2

The first one was an erotic thriller with several steamy scenes. It even gave us our serial kisser Emraan Hashmi. People expected the second part to be an eroctic thriller once again with more such scenes throughout the movie. But instead, it was an out-and-out thriller-suspense-drama where despite of having revealed the murderer's identity in the start, it movie ended up being a great watch! The movie gave a us a matured version of Emraan Hashmi. And yes, there were steamy scenes too, this time, with a super-hot Jacqueline Fernandez!

5. Jannat 2:

jannat 2

Another Emraan Hashmi movie! While the first one is considered as a cult hit, the second one was nothing less too! The movie was, once again, about a man into illegal business to create a heaven for himself and his love; with brilliant performances by our serial kisser and Randeep Hooda.

6. Aashiqui 2:

aashiqui 2

Remember the guitar tune from 'Saanson Ki Zarurat Hai Jaise' from Aashiqui? A tune that was being hummed by the entire ntaion before the Bhatts, who are known for having brilliant music in their movies, came up with a sequel to this romantic-musical- 'Aashiqui 2', 23 years later! And now, we all hum 'Tum Hi Ho' with nearly every girl in crowd shouting out loud Aditya Roy Kapur's name and every boy dreaming about having Shraddha Kapoor in his arms. Aashiqui 2 was nothing new on the concept-front, but it was the brilliant direction, songs and performances that made the movie one of the highest grossers of the year!

7. Grand Masti:

grand masti

'Masti' was an adult comedy about extra-marital affairs and was well-recieved by all. Then came 'Grand Masti' with the same trio of Riteish, Aftab and Viveik. This time, the jokes had a double meaning to it and the extra-marital affairs just got a bit more raunchy. 'Grand Masti' ended up being the first sex-comedy to cross the 100-crore mark thereby indicating that the audiences are ready for more of such movies!

Sequels are always a treat as we get to see our beloved actors as our favorite characters once again, as long as the sequel does not end up spoiling the fun in order to just cash in on the success of the first movie!
