The previous month marked the comeback of Govinda with two big movies- 'Kill Dil' and 'Happy Ending'. While one was a disappointment, another had an average performance at the box office.
Making a comeback is putting the image from earlier films and the prospect of future films at risk. While some have successfully managed to make a mark; some of them miserably failed. Let us have a look at the failures-
1. Karisma Kapoor:
Vikram Bhatt is known for making horror movies. Surely, his 'Dangerous Ishq' proved to be nothing less than a horror tale for the audience as well as Karisma Kapoor who tried making a comeback.
2. Madhuri Dixit Nene:
The once-upon-a-time “IT†girl of Bollywood who was loved even across the boundaries tried making her comeback in 2006 with the YRF film 'Aaja Nachle'. The failure was such, that she again tried to make a comeback in 2014 with 'Dedh Ishqiya' and 'Gulaab Gang'- another flops that weren't well-received by the public.
3. Harman Baweja:
With not even a single hit movie to his credit, Harman tried his luck again with 'Dishkiyaaoon' in 2014. Either his rashee is not that favourable, or he needs to wait till 2050 to make another comeback.
4. Priety Zinta:
Gone are the days when people used to fall for her cute and dimpled smile. The bubbly actress tried making a comeback with 'Ishkq In Paris', a movie with which no one fell in 'Ishk'. Looks like now, we are only going to see her in small roles like the one in 'Happy Ending'.
5. Rajesh Khanna:
The “first superstar†of Bollywood too wasn't spared in this fast-paced industry. The once-upon-a-time heart-throb tried making a comeback in 2008 with 'Wafaa: A Deadly love Story'. What proved to be more deadly were the leaked video's of his intimate scenes with his co-star that shocked the entire nation. Surely, the video got more views than the film itself.
6. Rani Mukherji:
One does not get repeated attempts at making comebacks unless she has a strong Chopra- support. 'Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic', 'Dil Bole Haddipa' and 'Aiyya' were nothing less than a torture for the audiences. Though with 'Mardaani', things seem to be getting right for her now.
7. Uday Chopra:
And then, there are actors whom even the strong Chopra-support cannot save. Yes, the superstar of Dhoom series- Uday Chopra. The only movie he does in every 3 years is of the Dhoom series. And after watching Dhoom 3, we aren't sure if we would be happy to see him in the further Dhoom franchises.
8. Shatrugan Sinha:
Do you remember the forgettable 'Aan-Men At Work'? Oh yes, it starred Shatrugan Sinha too. And since then, the filmography of Bollywood's shotgun is “Khamoshhhh†except for a brief appearance in another forgettable film- 'Rakht Charitra'.
9. Armaan Kohli:
It's easy to let go a man who commits a mistake but hard to forgive if he commits even a bigger and torturous mistake after a few years. When Armaan Kohli returned to the big screen after 5 years, it was with none other than 'Jaani Dushman'. We all know how brilliantly disastrous it was. While the world thought that it would be the last nail on his coffin, he is making a comeback again with Salman Khan in Sooraj Barjatya's next.
So while the audiences have been accepting and praising Govinda for his comeback, we wish the other's make a comeback too, as long as it does not disappoint their fans. Else, this list would keep increasing.
