They say, a director needs to be a good actor too in order to make the actors understand what he wants from them. But what happens if these directors end up giving a competition to the actors for money?
Karan Johar released his first look as Kaizad Khambatta, the antagonist in Anurag Kashyap's ambitious project 'Bombay Velvet'. And mind you, he looks nothing like what we have seen all these years. He looks like the typical classy, suave and manipulative businessman who might adopt any means to win the game!
So let us look at the various director who have tried their hand at acting.
1. Farhan Akhtar:
He rocked it as a director by directing movies and entering into different genres that no one usually dared to enter; be it a modern-day friendship tale, a take on a man's journey from being ambition-less to having a goal, or making a remake of classic in his own way and making it even more successful than the original one.
But then, he turned into an actor and charmed the entire nation with his humorous side and matured acting chops in 'Rock On!', 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara'. And how can one forget his version of athlete Milkha Singh that had the entire nation cheering just one name- Farhan Akhtar!
2. Anurag Kashyap:
The man with the dark side who loves showing the hidden characteristics of every human being in every film of his, has had his share of movies as an actor too 'Black Friday', 'Shagird', 'I Am' and many more! Also, last heard, he is set to play the villain in A.R. Murgadoss's next starring Sonakshi Sinha.
And he is the man behind convincing Karan Johar to play the antagonist in his film.

3. Nagesh Kukunoor:
Here is one director who has maintained his routine of acting in every second movie since the start of his career. Best remembered for his roles in 'Hyderabad Blues', 'Rockford' and '3 Deewarein', Nagesh continues to make brilliant movies that are least concerned with box office collections.

4. Farah Khan:
The female Manmohan Desai of this generation, who has given us blockbuster hits like 'Main Hoon Na', 'Om Shanti Om' and 'Happy New Year' with King Khan had tried her hand at acting too, with bad consequences though, in 'Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi'.
5. Sudhir Mishra:
The man who is known for showing the corrupt side of every human in the most commercial way possible, too has had his share of movies as an actor in 'Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi', 'Raat Gayi Baat Gayi', 'Khamosh' and 'Traffic Signal'.
6. Anurag Basu:
The 'Barfi!', 'Life in a Metro' and 'Gangster' director who keeps getting better with every movie, has tried his hand at acting too. He was seen as a Bengali director in 'I Am'.
7. Amole Gupte:
And its not Karan Johar to make his acting debut as a villain. Much before him, we had the genius man behind 'Taare Zameen Par' and 'Stanley Ka Dabba' portray villainous roles with much anger, depth and the required kameenapan in 'Kaminey' and the recent 'Singham Returns'.
8. Kunal Kohli:
The man who has given us the wonderful romantic-comedy 'Hum Tum' would soon be seen in a romantic drama 'Phirr Se' opposite television hottie Jennifer Winget.
So here's wishing Karan Johar all the luck for his upcoming movie where we would see him going head to head with Ranbir Kapoor.
