We hope you agreed with our previous edition of the Male Performances to Watch Out for in 2015. So this time, we bring to you the list of those stunning ladies in B-town who might enthral us with their brilliant acting skills this year!
If the hero fights with the goons and wins in the climax, one should not forget every movie and every story in Bollywood is incomplete without a heroine. And these are the heroines who do not choose roles that prefer keeping them in the film as mere eye-candy to increase the glamour quotient. Rather, they take up roles that have given us new reasons to fall for not just their beauty but their acting skills time-and-again in this hero-dominated industry.
1. Deepika Padukone:
The current reigning queen of B-town. She keeps becoming a bigger star with every new film, showing us a new side of her acting skills. Though 2014 was a quiet year for her, she would be back with a bang in 2015 with movies like 'Piku', 'Tamasha' and 'Bajirao Mastani', with all three belonging to completely different genres.
2. Aditi Rao Hydari:
She can be called the dark-horse of this race. Without much publicity and controversies, she manages to stand tall in her own ways. Opting for variety of roles has always proved to be good for her. This year, we would be seeing her in too many movies- 'Fitoor', 'Wazir', 'Guddu Rangeela', 'Aur Devdas', 'The Legend of Michael Mishra' and 'Delhi Belly' director Abhinay Deo's next untitled film opposite Irrfan Khan. *phew*.
3. Kangana Ranaut:
And speaking of dark horses in the industry, how can we not mention Kangana Ranaut, the 'Queen' of 2014. This year too, we would see her in more challenging roles be it a double role in the sequel to her hit film 'Tanu Weds Manu', untitled biopic to be directed Hansal Mehta, Reema Kagti's 'Mr. Chaalu' opposite Shahid Kapoor, a refreshing romantic-comedy with Imran Khan 'Katti Batti' and 'Divine Lovers' with Irrfan Khan.
4. Geetanjali Thapa:
If only commercial value wouldn't have been given much value, this actress would have been at the top of the game. Geetanjali Thapa is proving to be one of the stunning and finest actresses of this generation with every new movie. She would be seen playing Emraan Hashmi's wife in Danis Tavonic's next 'Tigers' and we might even get the chance to watch her on-screen with Nawazuddin Siddiqui if 'Liar's Dice' releases this year in India.
5. Priyanka Chopra:
The actress has been off the buzz for quite a while. Even her 'Mary Kom' act failed to impress the audiences much. Hopefully, this year we would see her in 'Dil Dhadakne Do' and 'Bajirao Mastani'. And being with directors like Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Zoya Akhtar, we are sure she is going to deliver more stellar performances this year!
6. Vidya Balan:
Vidya Balan needs to pull up her socks. And she knows it. From being the fourth Khan to becoming a star that did not even get a decent release, her career graph has seen a big fall. Hopefully, with ace actors like Rajkummar Rao and Emraan Hashmi opposite her, she is going to make a good comeback in Mohit Suri's 'Humari Adhuri Kahaani'.
7. Alia Bhatt:
The only time Alia chose to move away from Dharma Productions, she did a rather sensible 'Highway' where her performance won her lots of critical acclaim. And this year, she would be seen opposite Shahid Kapoor in the much-anticipated 'Shaandaar' directed by 'Queen' director Vikas Bahl. We are expecting another good performance from the young girl!
8. Anushka Sharma:
After delivering a competent performance in 'PK', Anushka Sharma would be seen this year in her home production 'NH10' and Zoya Akhtar's multi-starrer 'Dil Dhadakne Do'. We do not say she isn't a fine actress, but we really hope she wouldn't be playing the typical bubbly Delhi girl (monotonous and irritating) again in these upcoming movies!
9. Kalki Koechlin:
This talented actress will be seen in a solo-heroine movie in this year's 'Margarita With A Straw' a.k.a 'Choone Chali Aasman' for Hindi viewers. The movie, directed by Shonali Bose has been making waves in the film festival circuit and the trailer definitely looks promising. The story revolves around the life of a girl afflicted with cerebral palsy, played by Kalki.
In case we missed out one someone, let us know in the comments section. And we really hope actresses who are known for their looks more than acting talents, surprise us!
