Vidya Balan talks about her character in 'Bobby Jasoos', and why she is better off without the Khans
Gearing up for her detective film 'Bobby Jasoos', Vidya Balan is totally into her character. The actress plays a passionate detective in the movie, while off screen she wants to spy on her Bollywood colleagues. “From Bolywood, I would like to spy on Mr Bachchan. The aura of mystery which he has made after being in films for 40 odd years, there is so much we don't know about him,†said Vidya.
'Bobby Jasoos' will see Vidya get into different garbs, as she does all her work undercover. Talking about the toughest disguise, Vidya said, “The most difficult look, I feel, was the one of Maulvi. Quite some stuffing was done around my nose and other makeup so that it would look broad. Also I had to run a lot in this disguise. I was afraid that while running and breathing, that thing shouldn't go in my nose.†The actress had tried as many as 200 different looks for her character in the film. However, it seems Vidya enjoyed all the trial and error. She said, “There is one more, that of an astrologer. I am wearing dirty teeth, wig and hair and it all felt a bit sticky. But each one was different. And my voice would also change and even the style of walking... and this was very much fun for an actor. But beyond that there was no other trouble; all the other disguises were a lot of fun.â€
Dia Mirza and her beau, Sahil Sangha are the producers of this film. And Dia made sure to keep the atmosphere on the sets positive. “We completed shooting for 'Bobby Jasoos' in 51 days... through heat, cold and rains. But we never felt the hard work. All the time while shooting, Dia would keep the whole team's and even my spirits up,†said Vidya.
A versatile actress, Vidya is considered to give tough competition to the Khans. However the actress has not shown interest in working with them. Having carved a niche for herself, Balan babe stated that she wants to do meaningful characters. Sharing her opinion Vidya said, “If I get a good script where both the actors' presence is justified, then surely I will work in it. But the films where I don't have anything to do, then I won't work in them. At most times the case is such in Khan films. I am getting good scripts where there is so much for me to do. I don't think about others, but only about myself.†Vidya did notable roles in films like 'Kahaani' and 'The Dirty Picture'. The actress shared her mantra of being in the industry, “When you actually want to do something then it will happen, but I don't be hard on myself if I can't do anything at a point. I am human and at times I cannot do it.â€
Of late, Vidya has also been caught up in the controversy of being pregnant. There were reports of the actress dropping out of 'Kahaani' sequel as she was going to be a mother. “Do I look pregnant? I am not. But it doesn't matter who spreads all these rumours. It doesn't matter to me,†concluded Vidya.
