Aamir Khan's latest release 'PK' has received mixed reviews. While some have given it a thumbs up, some have criticized it for hurting the sentiments of a particular community.
Ask Aamir about it and he clarifies, “We respect all religions. All my Hindu friends have seen the film and they haven't felt anything wrong in it. This is a democracy and each one of us has their opinions, and I respect everyone's feelings and opinions. Having said that, I don't think Raju (Rajkumar Hirani), Abhijat (Joshi) or any one of us are talking about any one religion in particular. There is lot of care taken by us in dealing with the issue in a sensitive manner.â€
Though 'PK' is against the Godmen who exist in the country, there are people who have mistaken the film for being against God. Probe Aamir whether he feels the Indian audience isn't ready for a subject like this and he begs to differ, “No, the Indian audience isn't feeling this. That people are loving the film, is being reflected in the collections of the film. I think certainly this film is taking a stance against those groups who are exploiting people.â€
Meanwhile, actress Juhi Chawla, who watched the film recently, though loved it, made it very clear on twitter that she had certain issues with 'PK' and that it has stirred many thoughts and discussions.
When quizzed Aamir whether has Juhi contacted him for this, Khan replied, “No not yet. I will call her and ask. But it is good if it (the film) has given rise to debates and discussions. I think that faith is an extremely important aspect of our life. All of us feel that faith should not be locked. But blind faith is dangerous. If one does any nonsense under the name of religion, then it is wrong. These are the things we are dealing with.â€
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, 'PK' starring Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma released on December 19, 2014.
