Aamir Khan: We were sure 'PK' would spark controversies!

Though Aamir Khan's 'PK' has been raking in the moolah at the box-office and is inching towards 300 crore mark, the film has been stirring up various controversies within the country.

From VHP to Bajrang Dal to now certain Muslim clerics, there has been a unanimous demand to ban 'PK', a film which takes up the issue of organized religion, God and Godmen.

While the Hindu organizations have issues with the mockery of Lord Shiva being made in the film, Muslim clerics have problem over scenes which are making fun of the practices of their religion. And though, the issues are different, they both have expressed their desire to ban the film or remove the controversial scenes.

In fact, the VHP and Bajrang Dal activists have been disrupting 'PK' screenings at various cinema halls all over India including Bhopal, Agra, Ahmedabad among others. However, BJP leader L.K. Advani had a different opinion after watching the film and appreciated the efforts put in by Aamir and his entire team.

Reacting to these controversies, Ask Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani if they were expecting such controversies for their film and they stated, “In India for sure. We didn't have any doubts about it (the controversies). In our Country, even if you don't do anything and sit idle, still you will have a controversy. I think that is a given.”

Aamir added further, “But then that doesn't stop us from saying what we feel in a respectful manner. I think that what Rajkumar Hirani is conveying, is an extremely important thing. It is a positive message and a message of humanity and love. I am proud that Raju and Abhijat have written a script like this.”

Supporting Aamir, Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) Chairperson Leela Samson quoted to a leading daily saying, “In a country like India, there are bound to be differing opinions. Radical and liberal, indifferent and informed. Those who don't agree should ignore it. Every Indian citizen does not have to see every film produced in the country.”

'PK' has also given rise to a Twitter war where #BoycottPK and #WeSupportPK has been trending since the release of the film.

Meanwhile, Aamir's 'PK' is also facing problem for the television premiere of the film, reason being an apparent fallout between television channels and film's producers. This will prevent the film from premiering on television.

Well, we just hope Aamir and Rajkumar Hirani have been chanting All Is Well!
