Alone Movie Review: Bipasha-Karan's 'Alone' is scary in bits & pieces!

Star Cast: Bipasha Basu, Karan Singh Grover, Neena Gupta and Zakir Hussain.

Director: Bhushan Patel

Producer: Kumar Mangat Pathak

Claps for: Special Effects, Cinematography

Slaps for: Songs, Audio Quality

Popcorn Refill: During the interval and songs

Story: Sanjana and Anjana, played by Bipasha Basu, are conjoined twins since childhood. While they are partners in crime for everything, problems arise between them when Sanjana falls in love with Kabir (Karan Singh Grover) and Anjana doesn't cooperate. In her desire to be with Kabir, Sanjana decides to get separated from Anjana medically. However, one dies and what follows next makes the crux of the story.

Performances: Bipasha Basu retains her tag of 'Horror Queen of Bollywood' and is both sexy and scary at the same time. In certain scenes, she manages to send chills down your spine! Debutant Karan Singh Grover gives a decent performance however fails to impress overall. Neena Gupta, Zakir Hussai and Sulbha Arya though don't have much to do in the film but are fine in their given roles.

Direction: Bhushan Patel's 'Alone' is a Hindi adaptation of the Thai Blockbuster of the same name. While Bhushan does manage to scare you in bits and pieces, the technique of his direction reminds you of his past horror films (Ragini MMS 2 and 1920 Returns). The cinematography and special effects are good and they only increase the horror quotient. However, the songs in the film are little out of place and hold not much of significance. All in all, if you are a horror movie freak, 'Alone' may be dull but from Bollywood standards, this one's an average affair!

Combo on offer: Horror + Sex = Horrex with a twist!

Final Verdict: We give claps to the film for Bipasha's acting prowess and the special effects! Can be a decent watch for the weekend.
