No. It's not father's day! If the recent reports about Salman Khan's next 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' hold any truth, then we would see bhai playing daddy to a girl in the cross-border father-daughter relationship saga. And surely this isn't the first time he would be playing a father…remember 'Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai' or the recent 'Bodyguard'?
So let us look at the various other adorable fathers of B-town who have impressed us and made us love our fathers even more.
1. Shah Rukh Khan:
Certainly the most adorable and coolest dad on the block. SRK played the caring, protective and friendly dad to the eight-year old Sana Saeed with charm and maturity enough to fill the incompleteness of a mother in her life. Perhaps a role every actor takes cues from, every time they played a father.
2. Amitabh Bachchan:
Much before the recent old-yet-humorous hero phase and after the angry young man came a phase for India's biggest megastar to finally play his age- that of every budding actor's father! And he did it with conviction and perfection. But surely, his best was in 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' as SRK and Hrithik's father, and in 'Waqt-The Race Against Time' as Akshay Kumar's father.
3. Aamir Khan:
His shift from an ambitious singer to a caring father after his wife leaves him and his son in 'Akele Hum Akele Tum' was a heart-touching one.
4. Anupam Kher:
Have you noticed, from the heart-winning performance of playing King Khan's “pops†in 'DDLJ' to playing the serious and caring father to Ranbir Kapoor in 'Wake Up Sid', the man has managed to look the same even though the actors kept getting older and matured! And not just his evergreen looks, his acting is so fresh and new every time he portrays a father to a hero/heroine.
5. Farooque Shaikh:
Perhaps his last film before he died was the one where he managed to steal away the show from Ranbir in just those 5 minutes and two scenes that he had! Playing the supportive and loving father, Farooque Shaikh showed us once again that it just takes a good role and a few dialogues for an excellent actor to be remembered even if his role is just for a few minutes!
6. Abhishek Bachchan:
Well, what can we say about this man?! He dared to play a father to his own father in 'Paa' and shocked the world with the maturity with which he played his role.
7. Ayushmann Khurrana:
Boss! When it comes to playing a father on-screen, no one can beat this man who played the biological father to 53 kids in 'Vicky Donor'!
8. Sharman Joshi:
His cute and adorable act as the supportive Parsi father in 'Ferrari Ki Sawaari' was loved by all.
9. Ajay Devgn:
It's not every day that an actor plays a loving father as well as a mentally unstable man at the same time. But when we have an actor like Ajay, impossible becomes a mere word!
10. Rishi Kapoor:
Amongst all the variety of fatherly roles that the versatile actor has played, we just cannot forget his 'Do Dooni Chaar' and 'Hum Tum' performances.
11. Amrish Puri:
“Jaa Simran Jaa, Jee Le Apni Zindagiâ€. Need we say more?
12. Alok Nath:
“Lekin Jaane Se Pehle Babuji Ka Aashirwaad Toh Lete Jaa!†THE BAAP OF ALL! The man is known for playing every heroine's doting father who imparts her with valuable sanskaar and does her kanyadaan.
Hopefully, this year Salman would spice up things a little but more with his “heart of gold†image plus playing a fatherly figure to a girl! And if not that, we have Varun Dhawan coming up to take revenge of his son's death in 'Badlapur'.
