Bollywood diva's always love experimenting with style and make sure they're ahead of the game each time they step out. The thigh-high slit in gowns and dresses is a trend that's back and taking over all our favourite fashionistas from tinsel town. Let's take a look at some of the best and worst looks of this trend. Considering that thigh-high slits can be a little dangerous, all thanks to gossip hungry shutterbugs (Referring to the recent Deepika Padukone incident), these beauties steal the show and rock this trend. While some of the ladies are spot on with slits and have mastered the art of carrying it gracefully, the others fail. Let's take a look..
Even though the dress is more than plain risky and looks like a westernized version of the Indian Salwaar Kameez (minus the bottom half of course), the actress manages to look confident with that hand gesture. What we love most about this is that Kangana is that she is the queen of her own style sense and doesn't bother much about what critics say.
While most of the other actresses wore the thigh-high slit with glamour and grace, Sonam chose to give it a grunge twist. An army inspired grunge gown with a thigh-high slit, complete with black stockings and killer calf-length boots. Now that's what we call a trendsetter.
In this ensemble, Nargis Fakhri could pass off as one of those Barbie dolls we see in fancy boxes. From her expression to her makeup and posture, she could also pass off as a mannequin. Nothing wrong with this version of the trend, but it's better off inside a fancy-box
Shraddha proves that you can look ultra-glam even as you keep it simple. The bold orange hue goes perfectly with the simple structure of the dress and lets the slit stand out. The addition of nude coloured pumps and a metallic gold clutch are just the ingredients that garnish this look to perfection. Kudos Shraddha!
The main rule for the thigh-high slits is to focus all the attention towards the lower half by keeping the upper half subtle. By the looks of it, we're not quite sure where Mallika intends to divert our attention. The outfit is a mix between an item song costume and an unnecessary thigh-high slit. From the colour to the cut, this look leaves us confused and fails to make the intended statement.
Pee Cee loves experimenting with fashion and has embraced the thigh-high slit on several occasions. The first look is decent, but gives us nothing different. We're a fan of the second look that reminds us of old school prom- very retro, very D.I.S.C.O! The third look is vintage and classy. The thigh-high slit stands out best in the 2nd look, although she could do without those mismatched purple pumps.
Malaika Arora Khan
Malaika Arora Khan is the queen of thigh-high slits. With a well maintained physique like hers, she's proud to flaunt her toned legs with this trend. The first look is disappointing and shows a bit too much, too flashy and revealing. The second look is classy and vintage, flattering hues of red and gold do justice to the thigh-high slit. Malaika's white ensemble is a pristine version of the slit trend and makes her look effortlessly glamourous. The diva rocks the last look, a perfect combination of lace and the colour red.
Parineeti Chopra fails miserably at her attempt of sporting the thigh-high slit trend. What comes across as a torn garbage bag, looks worse with overdone make up. There's no saving grace in this ensemble.
Lisa Haydon looks sultry and stunning as she sports this trend of the thigh-high slit. The silver satin fabric falls perfectly and brings out the beauty in her exotic skin tone. She carries this trend with confidence and grace, a clear winner!
Bebo keeps it classy with her slits. She chose simple cuts and muted hues to go with her looks. While the first look wins extra points for a refreshing colour combination, the second look doesn't completely manage to impress.
Though Anushka plays it safe with the first look, she makes up for it with the next two attempts. While the second look is formal and glamourous, the third look steals the show with fresh hues and daring cuts.
Jacqueline Fernandez is known to create waves with her style statements in B-town and doesn't let us down with her versions of the thigh-high slit. While the first look is very similar to Shraddha's orange ensemble, it manages to please us with a bracing colour. Jacqueline looks absolutely stunning in the second look as the thigh-high slit stands out and makes her look like one of the vintage Hollywood beauties.
Illeana D'Cruz plays it safe as she incorporates the thigh-high slit in an all black ensemble. The look is decent with a combination of the empire neckline and floor length skirt.
Freida Pinto has truly learnt the trick of Hollywood and carries the thigh-high slit with élan. While the first look is pure Hollywood glamour, the other two looks are vibrant and refreshing. The actress undoubtedly rocks this trend in all the three looks.
Esha Gupta strikes the perfect balance between 'Smokin-hot' and 'Classy' in this attempt of trying the thigh-high slit. The pristine white and gold combo is perfect, just as the fit of this ensemble. Going minimalistic in the accessories department was a good choice.
Dia Mirza goes boho-chic in her version of sporting the thigh-high slit. Clad in coral hues of red and ethnic accessories, Dia gets it right and manages to give this trend an interesting twist.
Although there's nothing terribly wrong with this look, there's nothing strikingly right about it either. Bipasha's version of the thigh-high slit falls flat with the wrong kind of accessories.
Deepika Padukone keeps it simple and rocs this trend in white. The bold lip colour is perfect and adds to the glam quotient of this look.
