Movie Review: Varun Dhawan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Badlapur is brutal & absorbing!

Star cast: Varun Dhawan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Huma Qureshi, Divya Dutta and Yami Gautam

Director: Sriram Raghavan

Producer: Dinesh Vijan and Sunil Lulla

Claps for: Varun Dhawan, Sachin-Jigar's Music, Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Slaps for: Pace of the film in second half.

Popcorn Refill: Take the popcorn before the film starts. You won't be able to eat anything by the time the film reaches its interval

Story: Raghu's (Varun Dhawan) life is devastated, when a robbery at a bank in Pune kills his wife (Yami Gautam) and son. The culprit Liak (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) refuses to accept his crime and yet is imprisoned for 20 years. Ruined by the loss, Raghu isn't able to move on in life and waits for the right time to take revenge. Can he avenge the deaths of people involved in the crime is what forms the main plot of the film.

Performances: Varun Dhawan surprises all with his performance as the devastated Raghu. He aptly expresses his anger, frustration and rage through his character. Varun's matured act deserves claps. Nawazuddin Siddiqui on the other hand is like always brilliant. His straight face humour is exceptional and no other actor can match up to his performance. Huma Qureshi, Divya Dutta, Radhika Apte and Vinay Pathak are perfect in their characters.

Direction: Sriram Raghavan exactly knows how to keep the audiences hooked till the very end. He keeps the film brisk and precise. Though the second half of the film dips slightly, but the stellar performances by the actors makes up for the flaws. The film's music is an added bonus. Sachin-Jigar succeed in giving you just the right music which goes in sync with the movie, be it Divya Kumar's Jee Karda that expresses the angst or Rekha Bharadwaj and Arijit Singh's Judaai, that haunts you even after the film is over. Kudos to you guys!

Combo on offer: Drama + Thrill = A new kind of film in the genre.

Final Verdict: We give the film Claps for its exceptional actors, crisp story line and unpredictability.
