Even though R. Madhavan recently stated in an interview that the only similarity between his upcoming Bollywood flick ‘Saala Khadoos’ and Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Chak De! India’ is that of a strict coach; we just could not help but notice a few more similarities between both the films!
Check them out:
Based on a less-acclaimed sport
While Cricket continues to rule the nation, the word ‘Sports’ includes Hockey and Boxing too, which have, over the years, started gaining the much-needed recognition and support.
‘Jhalli’ girls are taught discipline and the sport
While boxer-turned-actress Ritika Singh is seen dancing around the city calling herself as a jhalli whom Madhavan has to tolerate and train, SRK had a bunch of undisciplined girls creating a havoc 24x7.
Return of a disgraced coach for the love towards his country and his beloved sport
Remember how Kabir Khan, the one with whom India had all its hopes, failed to make the country proud and was termed as a traitor? Well, the same goes with Madhavan’s character Adi Tomar: the once-upon-a-time hope of India for boxing who got termed as a traitor and lots more because of losing an important match.
The rugged look and the ‘Khadoos’-ness
Both great actors of Hindi cinema took the beard-route to accompany the rage and pain in their eyes; in order to come across as the strict and ‘Khadoos’ coach, who would make the players go through tough situations during practice sessions but ensure they learn the sport well.
Love-Hate Relationship between coach and his student/s
How they hated coach Kabir Khan, only to fall for his passion for the game during the second half of the movie. Something similar, or probably a higher level, can be seen in the song promos and trailer of ‘Saala Khadoos’. The two too are seen sharing a love-hate relationship where it starts with Ritika not being much-fond of him but later walking around him and confessing that she has fallen for him and is not scared the feelings she has!
Nevertheless! We are hoping that this one would be an equally delightful watch along with some memorable performances. Directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad, ‘Saala Khadoos’ releases this week on 29th January, 2016.
