Detective Byomkesh Bakshy Trailer: Plenty of Suspense and Drama in this One!

The much awaited trailer of Sushant Singh Rajput starrer 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy' is finally out. The trailer is engaging and while it gives you an idea of what case the detective would be seen solving, the final few seconds add more to the suspense.

We all have seen Dibakar Bannerjee's work and be it 'Love Sex Aur Dhokha' or 'Shanghai', the man does not believe in going the commercial way but rather keeping it raw, crisp and serious. Perhaps, that's the reason one might find the trailer to be lacking in terms of commercial angle. For a change we are happy YRF would be producing a movie completely hatke from what it has been producing all these years ('Kabul Express' and 'Mardaani' being exceptions).

Re-creating Calcutta pre-Independence must have been a big task for the entire crew and they have done a brilliant job. No one can say that the sets, costumes and the make-up look fake or made-up. Though Sushant's costumes remind of Ranveer Singh 'Lootera', thanks to the Bengali connection both carry.

The Cinematography looks brilliant and crisp. Nikos Andritsakis knows very well what the director wants and he keeps the mood of the movie intact.

Coming to Sushant Singh Rajput, expectations from him have been on a constant rise and with this trailer he proves why he has achieved so much in such less time. He completely looks like the director's actor minus over-playing his part with the commercial touch and keeping it simple and as realistic as possible, The detectives we have previously seen act hard to look intelligent and with the “I am always analyzing every detail” look on the face. This is different!

Anand Twari, who has always come out as the dark horse in every movie, and has surprised us with variety of roles he has been doing, too plays an important role and going by the trailer, it is Anand's character who gives Byomkesh Bakshi his first case. Newcomer Swastika Bannerjee has been given very less footage but we are sure she would be having a pivotal role to play in the movie.

The background music too in engaging and despite being an English song, it suits the mood of this Indian-style detective drama. The only turn-off in the entire trailer would be the much-used and common tagline 'Expect The Unexpected'.

Let us wait till 3rd April to find out whether this detective ends up being Bollywood's very own answer to Sherlock Holmes!
