Television heartthrob Gurmeet Choudhary is quite gung-ho about his Bollywood debut opposite Sapna Pabbi and Ali Fazal in Karan Darra's 'Khamoshiyan' slated to release this week.
Since Gurmeet is a big name in television, ask him if there was any kind of pressure on him while signing for the film and he reveals, “If I say I didn't have pressure then I would be lying. Had I not done television, I wouldn't have had the pressure. But because I have established myself in television, I did have pressure. I had the responsibility to do justice to what I was doing. But then when you work in pressure, it converts into a positive energy which in turn leads to hard work.â€
Interestingly, just like television, his debut film 'Khamoshiyan' also has a cameo appearance of his lovely wife Debina. “She is my lucky mascot. I was 17 years when I first met Debina and promised to get married to her. And that is what we did. But I realized later that in all my projects Debina was always present. I started my career with 'Maya' - a south TV show, Debina was the actress in it. Then I was offered 'Ramayan' where she played the role of my wife Sita. Nobody knew about our relationship. All thought we met on the sets of 'Ramayan' which wasn't true. We knew each other before that. So yes, she has been my lucky charm always. Without her nothing is possible,†beams Gurmeet.
Gurmeet's co-actor Ali Fazal agrees to that and adds, “Debina has given such a beautiful tone to 'Khamoshiyan' and it's a very sweet appearance.â€
Now that Gurmeet has bid adieu to television and entered Bollywood, quiz him whether he is still open to doing TV?
“If given a chance, of course I would want to come back to television. I would be mad to leave something that is exciting. In fact, all the big stars of Bollywood are doing television so why will I not accept it,†admits Choudhary.
Interestingly, another television star Karan Singh Grover debuted in Bollywood with Bipasha Basu starrer 'Alone'. Ask Gurmeet if he considers Karan as his competitor and pat comes the reply, “This is my first step towards Bollywood and there is lot of competition. But my best wishes for Karan. I don't consider him as a competitor.â€
On a concluding note, quiz Gurmeet if he is keen to work with any actress and he gushes, “My biggest desire is to work with Deepika Padukone. I am keen to work with her.â€
