Claps for: The music and its humour
Slaps for: Being a little predictable
Popcorn Refill: Only during the interval
Story: Happy Ending is a story of how two 'similar' individuals Yudi Jaitley (Saif Ali Khan) and Aanchal Reddy (Ileana D'Cruz) get 'attracted' to each other. While Yudi was a successful author, and is now going through a 'writers block', Aanchal is a 'fraud' successful author, who has been writing conventional romantic novels, though she doesn't believe in the concept. To save his career and earn some money, Yudi meets Armaanji (Govinda), a superstar, and agrees to write a 'romedy' for him. He also has an over possessive girlfriend (Kalki Koechlin) who manages to find reasons to stay with him, his best friend Montu (Ranvir Shorey) who is fed up of his own married life and finds reasons to party with Yudi. And then there's Yudi's alter ego Yogi (Saif Ali Khan's double role), who manages to pop up at various occasions and entertain all with his gyaan.
Performances: Saif Ali Khan as Yudi and Yogi simply entertains all with his dead pan comedy and is back in his avatar. Ileana D'Cruz has impressed us yet again with her performance of a 'damsel in distress'. Kalki Koechlin and Ranvir Shorey are apt in their roles and manage to generate some laughs. However, it is 'superstar' Govinda who steals the show in the film! The actor leaves no space to complain and has indeed done a commendable job!
Direction: Though the subject is cliché, Raj and DK manage to keep us hooked with this one, adding loads of twists and turns. They have managed to pull off the 'spoof' on romcoms easily with a different take to the usual ones. However, we wish they had kept more of Govinda, as his performance made me longing for more.
Combo on offer: Romance + Comedy + drama= You must watch this one if you find 'regular' romcoms too boring!
Final Verdict: We give this film Claps for giving us just the right amount of humour, romance and drama!
