Today, the actor who is loved for both negative and positive portrayals turns 55 years old. Boman Irani is one versatile actor who has played all kinds of roles. A man who started acting in films at an age when others start planning their retirement.
Boman Irani has been an inspiration for so many and is one of the actors who made it big, despite of playing the supporting actor and villainous roles, in mere 10 years of his cinematic journey.
So today, on his birthday, we bring to you five of his best performances:
1.Dr. J.Asthana (Munnabhai M.B.B.S):
The movie that bought Irani fame and recognition for his role as the dean of a medical college. There are moments when you feel like killing him for his apathy towards Munna. And then, there are scenes when he tries to control his anger by laughing- the scenes which gave him an edge over the other villains and made his character an iconic one. Imagine how boring the college scenes would have been had there been a less-competent actor as the antagonist.
2. Principal in Main Hoon Na:
While the audiences and critics were praising him for his villainous roles in Darna Mana Hai and Munnabhai M.B.B.S, he surprised everyone again by playing the funny college principal who fails to remember positions and events, in this hit SRK starrer.
His comic timing was even appreciated in 'Waqt: The Race Against Time'
3. Kishen Khurana (Khosla Ka Ghosla):
In 2006, Irani again played the role of the funny antagonist in 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' and 'Khosla Ka Ghosla'.
Undoubtedly, his performance in the latter stands strong and it ended up becoming another iconic one; thanks to his effortless act and brilliant direction by Dibakar Bannerjee. With this movie, we saw Irani getting into the skin of a character the way it needs to be portrayed with the minor detailing and styles.
4. Armaan Ali/Abba (Well Done Abba):
Boman Irani once again won critical acclaim and positive reviews for his portrayal as a Muslim driver who gets tangled in the social issue of our society. One of the movies where Irani played the lead character, the movie was surely not a commercial hit but a good one.
5. Advocate Rajpal (Jolly L.L.B):
Another milestone in Irani's career, he played the antagonist with no comic angle. He played the serious, ambitious and ruthless advocate who knows how to win a case- by hook or by crook.
Rarely, there are movies that are of a small budget but end up being huge hits due to a great storyline and brilliant performances by the protagonist and the antagonist; and Jolly L.L.B was one such movie.
Also, this list would be incomplete if we do not mention his act in 3 idiots as the engineering college dean VIRUS.
So these are the movies where the birthday boy proved his versatility and won the hearts of the audience as well as several awards.
Let us know if we missed out on any of his other iconic roles in the comments section.
