Review Roundup: What the Critics are saying about 'Interstellar'

Christopher Nolan is back, two and a half years after 'The Dark Knight Rises', with his ambitious sci-fi epic 'Interstellar'. We have collected a few excerpts from the top critics in India about their views on one of the most anticipated Hollywood movies of 2014. Go ahead, take a look and decide for yourself, whether to watch the latest offering from one pf modern day's most brilliant film-makers:

Raja Sen, Rediff:

Interstellar is an incredible ride, a film that will scare and stupefy and drop jaws and make us weep, the kind of film that makes our hearts thump against our ribs for forty straight-minutes and makes us believe in the glory of the movies. All those Batman movies were a mere smokescreen; Christopher Nolan is Superman.

Mihir Fadnavis, Firstpost:

Since few can match Nolan in ambition, that means 'Interstellar' has everything — an Earth-bound story of loss and longing, a space-bound story of endeavour and enterprise, and even an audience-bound message of preserving our planet.

Gavin Rasquinha, Times of India:

Hans Zimmer's score swells like the tides throughout; ebbing, flowing and speaking a separate sonic language. This intergalactic extravaganza is clearly in a class by itself.

Jyoti Sharma Bawa, Hindustan Times:

One goes to a Nolan film expecting intellectual grandeur, philosophy and a belief that cinema can challenge your mind. The film delivers all of that largely but fails near the climax. It gets too tangled up in the web of its own aspirations and ends with a whimper. Despite the complaints, this is one intergalactic trip the audience needs to take. It may not match up to those touchstones of sci-fi cinema - Solaris and 2001: A Space Odyssey but it finds its place in pantheon of films which dare to dream.

Rajeev Masand, CNN-IBN:

'Interstellar' is a sweeping, audacious effort by a filmmaker whose reach inevitably exceeds his grasp. But how can you not applaud its sheer sense of scale, drama, and fearlessness? Now forget everything you've read and heard and go experience it for yourself!
