Claps for: Armaan and Deeksha trying their best
Slaps for: Serving us the usual
Popcorn refill: Whenever you feel like; you already know what you'll be missing.
Performance: While Armaan Jain was a newcomer to acting, Deeksha Seth was a newcomer to Bollywood. Armaan's performance was a perfect mix of the typical Casanova and the next chocolate boy of Bollywood; we even saw reflections of cousin Ranbir in his performance at regular intervals. We are not quite sure if the newbie is capable of pulling off some serious acting stints in the future. Deeksha, who has been acting in South films, gives a consistent performance. You couldn't really blame her for not giving an award winning performance through a regular character.
Arif Ali did nothing wrong with the direction of this film; just nothing different. You could win a guessing contest, if you had to predict what happens next. The films direction goes in only one direction, the one that you've travelled so many times before.
You could tell the story of this film in about 7 seconds, if you say it at a slow pace. Watch the trailer and you'll know what to expect for the next two odd hours (In case you decide on challenging your predictions and book your movie tickets)
BFF'S>Elope>Love>Hate>Love>Elope. (Told you, you could try the 7 seconds test)
Music: The music of this film is fresh and is a pleasure listening to. A.R Rahman has done a pretty fantastic job with composing the music of this film. Songs like 'Mawali Qawwali' and 'Khalifa' are about to take credits for recognition of this film.
Music playing in the background: 'Mawali hmm Qawalli, tu phuljhadi… aur main Diwali.'
Chintu: Arey nice song.. kaunse picture ka hai?
Pintu: Who Ranbir Kapoor ke bhai ka naya film aya hai na.. 'Lekar Hum Deewana Dil'.
Combo on offer:
If you're among a bunch of college students that eloped from lectures to watch this film, you'll be okay. A few budding college couples may get inspired, especially after watching a presentation during the film's closing credits that show real life couples that eloped and are happily married. If you're expecting a hilarious romantic comedy, there's only one word for you- 'DON'T'. All of the hilarious parts of this film were shown in the trailer (Smart decision).
Final Verdict: Claps if you're trying to convince your partner that it's okay to elope; but wait, it doesn't really manage to convince you!
