Claps For- Rani Mukerji's valiant performance. And being the first A rated Yashraj movie.
Slaps For- I am nitpicking here, but plot drags slightly in the second half. Also, some of the protagonists actions have no logic. But frankly, that can be overlooked.
Popcorn Break- None. The movie is an absolute entertainer.
Story- Shivani Roy (Mukerji) is a no nonsense crime branch officer who is sent on a special mission to New Delhi, one that involves flesh trade. As she gets deeper into this, more chapters are unlocked. Soon, it becomes a cat and mouse game between Shivani, and the kingpin of this trade.
Acting- The movie is all about Rani Mukerji and she does a brilliant job. Her angst, her fury, is visible and relatable. Tahir Raj Bhasin as the mysterious baddie, is menacing, but a more senior actor would have suited the role better. There are many junior artistes in the movie, who suit their roles perfectly.
Direction- Pradeep Sarkar has made a career out of making women oriented films, and this one is no exception. This has to rank amongst his best work, at par with Parineeta. Some scenes will tittilate you, but the overall expirience will uplift you.
Combo on Offer- Kudos to Yashraj for not taking any half measures in making a gritty crime drama, and going all the way this time. In this current scenario of women being targetted, this movie puts the power back in the womens hands. Plus, good entertainment, so there's that.
- Watch it if you are into crime dramas. The movie will not disappoint you. It gives a great social message, one that is very relevant today.
