Mastram is the story of a porn writer whose books were bestsellers before Internet arrived. Writer director Akhilesh Jaiswal has depicted his understanding of the real Mastram. Produced by Bohra brothers the movie depicts the writer as a normal decent person who the society would automatically tag as filthy for writing porn. Neither Bohra nor Jaiswal have met the writer whose story inspired them to make the movie. It is their fictional adaptation of what his life would be like.
Mastraam stars Rahul Bagga in the lead role with Tara Alisha Berry plays his supporting wife. Rajaram (Rahul Bagga), is a clerk who aspires to become a writer but he cannot find any takers for his work. One publisher agrees only if he would add masala to his dull tale. He is unable to decode masala until he meets an eccentric, old man who tells him about the thrills in fantasies. Under the pseudonym of Mastram he churns out a series of erotic novels, which become very popular. Although successful the credit goes to Mastram not Rajaram. The movie hints at hypocrisy in our society.
Mastram has lots of titillating action and gritty dialogues. Packed with actors from theatre background it does promise good performances. Full of masala and raunchy songs it certainly will be an entertainer; how good we will know only on the 9th of May.
