Slaps for: The clichéd depiction of India.
Popcorn refill: Some
The story: In an an attempt to save his agency sports agent, JB Bernstein (Jon Hamm) conceives an idea to find baseball's next great pitching ace. Hoping to find a young cricket pitcher he can turn into a major league baseball star, JB travels to India to produce a reality show competition called "Million Dollar Armâ€. The story depicts the journey of the two Indian village boys fascinated by America struggling to learn the game and JB's growth as a person.
Performances: John Hamm as the desperate sports agent is as amazing as usual. Suraj Sharma and Madhur Mittal as the aspiring players are convincing. The rest of the cast do justice to their parts and are good.
Combo on offer: Million Dollar Arm is the story of two unknown kids from villages making it big in the American sports scene. The plot intertwines their rags to riches story along with the ruthless to caring evolution of JB. Some twists are interesting though expected. Scenes of India like half the village watching one tiny television, a goat on the street, make you wonder why the west is still fascinated with this side of the country. Overall Million Dollar Arm is a decent watch.
Our verdict: We give Million Dollar Arm Claps for bringing out a nice story.
