‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2’ Movie Review: A funny sequel which does not take the story forward!
The much-loved Greek family is back; and yet again, it’s time for a special wedding in the family. But is this wedding as lavish and enjoyable as the one the family had 14 years back? Read on to find out…

Star Cast: Nia Vardalos, John Corbett, Elena Kampouris, Lainie Kazan and Michael Constantine.

Director: Kirk Jones

Producer: Universal Pictures

Claps: Performances, Humour

Slaps: Story

What’s New: Nothing

Popcorn Refill: Interval

Plot: It’s been 14 years since Toula got married to her American boyfriend Ian. The two live happily together, and by “together” they mean - Ian, Toula, their 18 year old girl Paris and Toula’s entire family! Yes, the Greeks are still in the business and running strong with the same mannerisms that made ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ a complete delight. However, things take a turn when Toula’s father finds out that his marriage certificate was never signed by the priest who got him married to Maria.

And that’s when the kids decide to take the matters into their hand and get Gus and Maria married all over again…

Performances: Michael Constantine as Toula’s father Gus is completely adorable! He still loves teaching the kids of the house Greek words, loves jumping at the prospect of showing the world about the words that are derived from Greek and at the same moment acts like a small kid when his wife gets upset.

It’s wonderful to see Nia Vardalos and John Corbett trying hard to re-kindle their romance and at the same acting as mature parents to an 18 year old.

Elena Kampouris looks pretty but her role requires to sport the “this-is-so-embarrassing” expression throughout the movie.

Direction: Kirk Jones takes over from Joel Zwick and makes this flick as enjoyable as possible despite the poor storyline. His ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2’ has all the essential elements to make it an enjoyable watch- romance, drama, emotions, a few new jokes and plenty jokes from the installment.

Combo-On-Offer: Drama + Romance + Comedy

Verdict: Strictly a one-time watch for the laughs, this sequel does not take the story any forward despite bringing back the much-loved characters and their antics back on-screen! Hence, we give the movie SLAPS.
