Oscars 2015: Full List of Nominations

The nominations for the most-awaited and most-watched movie awards show on earth have been unveiled. The nominations list has raised a few eyebrows with their selections and in many cases, with their snubbing of certain films and individuals. There are surprises galore which you can have a look for yourself in the list below:-

The big surprise here is American Sniper and the exclusion of Interstellar.

• Alejandro G. Iñárritu, Birdman

• Richard Linklater, Boyhood

• Bennett Miller, Foxcatcher

• Wes Anderson, The Grand Budapest Hotel

• Morten Tyldum, The Imitation Game


Selma director Ava DuVernay's omission has been a major snub as per the international media. Perhaps, Christopher Nolan for Interstellar is another major omission.


Best Actor


• Steve Carell, Foxcatcher

• Bradley Cooper, American Sniper

• Benedict Cumberbatch, The Imitation Game

• Michael Keaton, Birdman

• Eddie Redmayne, The Theory of Everything


Once again, American Sniper! Bradley Cooper has done a good job but leaving out Jake Gyllenhal from this list was really sad! One more name doing the rounds is for being excluded is David Oyelowo, who received major praise for Selma.


Best Actress


• Marion Cotillard, Two Days, One Night

• Felicity Jones, The Theory of Everything

• Julianne Moore, Still Alice

• Rosamund Pike, Gone Girl

• Reese Witherspoon, Wild


This is pretty much straightforward, with Julianne Moore touted to be the front runner in American media.

Best Supporting Actor


• Robert Duvall, The Judge

• Ethan Hawke, Boyhood

• Edward Norton, Birdman

• Mark Ruffalo, Foxcatcher

• J. K. Simmons, Whiplash


Strong contenders here with some established names. J.K. Simmons is the favourite on account of his Golden Globe win.


Best Supporting Actress


• Patricia Arquette, Boyhood

• Laura Dern, Wild

• Keira Knightley, The Imitation Game

• Emma Stone, Birdman

• Meryl Streep, Into the Woods


Patricia Arquette is the favourite to win, but some really noteworthy performances here.


Best Animated Feature


• Big Hero 6

• The Boxtrolls

• How to Train Your Dragon 2

• Song of the Sea

• The Tale of Princess Kaguya


Lego Movie is a notable miss from this section. It was widely expected to even win this year's award!


Best Visual Effects


• Captain America: The Winter Soldier

• Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

• Guardians of the Galaxy

• Interstellar

• X-Men: Days of Future Past


Here we see the big-budget commercial blockbusters which will slug it out in this category. Competition is pretty strong here, hard to pick a clear winner; Interstellar or maybe Guardians perhaps?

The absence of movies like 'Inherent Vice' and 'A Most Violent Year' altogether in the above categories have been surprising too as voiced by many in the international media.
