The two box office clashes that have been making it to the headlines are:
’ vs ‘Kaabil
’ (on 26th January, 2017)
’ vs ‘Rustom
’ (on 12th August, 2016).
While ‘Mohenjo Daro’ and ‘Rustom’ clash will have Hrithik Roshan locking horns with Akshay Kumar, ‘Kaabil’ and ‘Raees’ clash will see Roshan lock horns with his ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ co-star Shah Rukh Khan.
Needless to say, both are not just about the clash of four big budget films, but also about three superstars!
And while the clash on August 12 this year is not getting averted with both the parties are bracing themselves to outdo each other; the fate of the clash that will happen early next year heavily depends on it. And here’s why…
Scenario 1: Wins
If Akshay Kumar’s ‘Rustom’ manages to emerge as the winner at the box office, then it would be Hrithik’s time to re-think about where he has been going wrong.
His previous release (‘Bang Bang!’) too faced a clash with Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Haider’ at the box office and despite his film garnering more money at the box office it failed to grab away all the limelight, along with the movie receiving criticism more than applauses.
And with another failed gamble in the form of ‘Mohenjo Daro’, we highly doubt that the actor would be all worked up to have yet another face off with one of the biggest Khans of the industry!
Scenario 2: Wins
Shah Rukh Khan might be the King Khan of Hindi cinema, and surely has several achievements to his name. But there’s no denying that the megastar too has been going through a rough patch when it comes to the fate of his recent movies at the box office.
While his ‘Dilwale’ received a lot of criticism and lost to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘Fan’ did not even cross the 100 Crore mark despite receiving mostly positive reviews from all the quarters.
And if Hrithik Roshan manages to overpower that superstar who has hit the purple patch and has already given two 100 crore movies in 2016 (‘Airlift’ and ‘Housefull 3’), then it would be time for SRK to shift the release date of his ‘Raees’ yet again!
And now, let’s come to the other clash:
There have been a few more developments off late regarding this box office battle-
Last night, SRK and ‘Raees’ producer Riteish Sidhwani were spotted at the Juhu abode of the Roshans where they had a 4-hour long chat with the superstar and his director/producer father Rakesh Roshan in order to avert the clash between ‘Kaabil’ and ‘Raees’.
And here’s why the chances of the clash on 26th January, 2017 getting averted are high:
‘Raees’ producer Farhan Akhtar and Hrithik Roshan are childhood buddies who have even worked together in several films.
Hrithik and SRK too share a close friendship.
Post SRK’s debut in 1992, all of Rakesh Roshan’s films had starred the actor (‘King Uncle’ in 1993, ‘Karan Arjun’ in 1995 and ‘Koyla’ in 1997) before Hrithik made his debut with his father’s ‘Kaho Na… Pyaar Hai’; thereby signifying that the two go a long way and share a good equation with each other.
King Khan even took to Twitter to tweet about the same:
So who do you think will win the battle on 12th August? Ashutosh Gowariker’s magnum-opus on the long-gone civilization, or Tinu Suresh Desai’s version of the famous Nanavati case?
