‘Bombay Velvet’ actors Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma are amongst the few lucky ones in the industry who have had the privilege of working with few of the best directors. While Ranbir has had the opportunity of working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Anurag Basu, Prakash Jha, Rajkumar Hirani among others, Anusha too has been fortunate to have worked with Yash Chopra, Aditya Chopra, Maneesh Sharma, Zoya Akhtar, Rajkumar Hirani among others.
Ask Ranbir and Anushka, how was their experience of working with Anurag Kashyap for ‘Bombay Velvet’ to which Sharma replies, “I think Anurag is also one of the best directors we have worked with. It has been a wonderful experience working with him (Anurag Kashyap). We have loved all his films in the past and 'Bombay Velvet' has been a very dear project for Anurag, which he has been trying to make for quite some time now. I can say that both Ranbir and I have been very happy to have been a part of Anurag's vision.”
Adds Ranbir, “I believe that I am always as good as the director. if the director is good, I will be good. So I have always been selfish that I get to work with good directors. Anurag appears to be an intense and rebel kind of a director, but the truth is that he isn't like that at all. He is actually like a teddy bear on the set. Anurag enjoys a great following and it is not a demanded following, but it his work that makes people love him.”
Interestingly, though director turned producer Karan Johar made his debut in Bollywood with ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, this is the first time one would see Karan in a full-fledged role for ‘Bombay Velvet’.
Quiz Ranbir on how was it working with Karan, in whose productions he has worked thrice, as a co-star and he replies, “Karan of course has been my personal mentor. I have done 3 films in his production and he has always been great to me. And in this film he had to play my mentor which was a great experience!”
Concludes Anushka, “It was fun working with Karan. Though I had very few scenes with KJo, he was great fun to work with.”
Directed by Anurag Kashyap and produced by Fox Star Studios and Phantom Productions, ‘Bombay Velvet’ is all set to release on May 15, 2015.
