Her marriage to Aditya Chopra isn't the only thing Rani Mukherji is in the news for. Come 22nd August, moviegoers will see her in an all new avatar, that of a totally badass female cop!
Directed by Pradeep Sarkar, Mardaani is not the usual song and dance movie with a passive heroine who waits for her hero to rescue her. Mardaani is a gritty movie about the harsh reality of human trafficking, and the story one brave woman officer who decides to fight it.
Produced by her husband, and under the Yash Raj banner, the movie is touted to be the comeback for Rani that her previous attempts Aiyya and Dil Bole Hadippa couldn't achieve.
Rani underwent extensive training in marital arts, and also met with the Mumbai Police Crime Branch Chief as part of her research for her new role. She has also de-glammed completely for this role.
Mardaani also stars Bengali actor Jisshu Sengupta as her husband in the movie, with cinematographer Artur Zurawski and production designer Madhu Sarkar Kuriakose also on board.
