Claps for: Being a great example of how not to make a film.
Slaps for: Releasing.
Popcorn Refill: Might as well have a meal.
The Story: Detective Samrat (Rajiv Khandelwal) is hired to investigate the strange death of plants in a garden. The investigation turns into a murder mystery as soon as the house owner is found dead.
Performance: Rajiv Khandelwal as Samrat is awkward and unreal. He tries too hard to copy Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock. Gopal Dutt as Samrat's assistant Chakradhar is loud and annoying. Madalsa Sharma as Dimpy Singh the damsel is average and doesn't have much to do. The rest of the cast is as bad.
On a Musical Note: The soundtrack is bad and repetitive. It struggles to create a sense of drama and rush but fails miserably. Songs are extremely dull without any soul.
Combo On Offer: Samrat & Co is a bad attempt at copying Sherlock and other detective films. The story desperately trying to be complex ends up an uninteresting mess. The soundtrack makes the whole thing even more annoying to watch as it suddenly keeps jumping at you. The bad performances sink the film some more. The direction is callous while the editing is abrupt. The frequent close-ups of a pasty looking Rajiv Khandelwal get very disturbing. The bad visual effects look amateur. This is a film best avoided.
Our Verdict: We give Samrat & Co Slaps for being a dreadful film.
