Popcorn Refill: The entire movie
Story: The Gippy Grewal , Tina Ahuja, Dharmendra and Geeta Basra starrer movie is named Second Hand Husband but the story is pretty new, only because it is a mash-up of a bunch of movies together. The story begins with Gippy Grewal (Rajbir)and Tina Ahuja(Gurpreet) madly in love with each other and planning to get married, but can't because he has to pay a hefty alimony to gold-digging ex-wife Geeta Basra(Neha).Sanskari Babuji aka Alok Nath is totes cool with his daughter Gurpreet marrying a divorcee but doesn't think that a man earning Rs 45,000 a month and who pays Rs 30,000 a month can afford a married lifestyle with his daughter. So Rajbir comes up with a plan to get his ex-wife married as they are 'BFFs' but is unable to find a suitable husband for her. He first tries to fix her up with Punjab police chief Vijay Raaz, who's widowed and a single father, but Neha friendzones him to glory. Enter flamboyant playboy and Rajbir's boss Ajit Singh played by Dharmendra who's wife Rati Agnihotri is divorcing him, being tired of his excessive drinking and philandering habits, especially as she catches his red handed with another woman. Neha wants Rajbir to hook her up with Ajit, but Ajit is still in love with his estranged wife. Rajbir then comes up with a plan to hook Neha and Ajit, but his plans go horribly awry. What happens next is the crux of the story.
Direction: The story is a no -brainer without a doubt and makes you cringe with cheesy and corny dialogues. Smeep Kang's direction is decent, but there are times when you feel that the film should have had a better editor and a screenplay writer. I don't want to get into some of the factual errors in the film, as it a complete popcorn fluff and keeping a track of minor details doesn't seem fair. One can spot errors of continuity and there is a disconnect in various scenes of the film. The music is the saving grace of the film, as Gippy being the big sensation in the Punjab music industry has ensured foot stomping dance numbers in the film.
Performances: Tina Ahuja who debuts has comparatively lesser screen time than Gippy who is all over the film. However we feel Gippy has a better chemistry with Geeta than with Tina, who ironically plays his love interest. Veteran star Dharmendra is in his element and he delivers his dialogues with ease and has perfect comic timing. But somehow the women around prodding him like a piece of meat made us cringe.
Verdict: All in all this is a one time watch. Dimaag nikal ke dekho aur 3 ghante air conditioner main so jao. We give the film Slaps for a really boring and annoying content .
