'Shamitabh' music is Zany, Retro & Magical!

Since 'Shamitabh' is iconic music composer Illaiyaraaja's 1000th album, one would definitely expect an out-of-the-box, whacky and classy music. And whether songs of 'Shamitabh' have been impressive or not is something that we will find out in the film's music review below. Directed by R. Balki and produced by Gauri Shinde, Eros International and Abhishek Bachchan, 'Shamitabh' stars Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush and Akshara Haasan in the lead.

Ishq E Phillum: Suraj Jagan's Ishq E Phillum penned by Swanand Kirkire and composed by Illaiyaraaja is a tribute to all the filmy keedas that eat, breathe and sleep 'phillum'! The song interesting lyrics and Suraj's voice gives soul to the song and conveys the intense passion.

Sha Sha Mi Mi: Caralisa Monteiro's Sha Sha Mi Mi, a retro style number makes for a good hear. Her deep, husky vocals go well with the lyrics which are written by Kausar Munir.

Piddly: Though Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has sung very often, he manages to enthrall all with his quirky song Piddly. Bachchan's rich baritone voice overpowers the lyrics and music of the song. He is simply magical and so is Piddly.

Sannata: Illaiyaraja yet again gives a whacky number in the form of Sannata sung by Shruti Haasan and written by Swanand Kirkire. Sannata, which means silence, somewhere reflects the theme of the movie where Dhanush is rumoured to play the deaf man and Big B is his voice. However, the song's exact meaning can be understood only when the video releases. But Shruti's vocal prowess will make you like the song.

Thappad: Earl D'Souza and Suraj Jagan's Thappad is similar to Sannata in terms of zaniness and music, which is a heavy rock based situational number. Interestingly, the song also features Amitabh Bachchan's iconic 'Haayen', which is truly innovative.

Lifebuoy: Suraj Jagan gives a good twist to the ad jingle Tandurusti ki raksha karta hai Lifebuoy that we have grown up listening to. Lifebuoy is ahatke song in this varied album.

Claps Or Slaps:

We give Claps to Illaiyaraaja who has impressed us with his off - beat music yet again in 'Shamitabh'. And though the audience may not find the tracks engaging initially, once the film releases, they will surely be hooked on to it.

Hot Favourites: Our hot picks from the album are definitely Piddly and Sha Sha Mi Mi!
