Story: Raftaar Singh (Akshay Kumar) is constantly rebuked by his father for being a 'good-for-nothing' son. After his disastrous stint as a zoo-keeper, this 'maa da laadla' is sent off to Goa where he meets Sara (Amy Jackson) who has flown down to India from Romania in search of her mother. Our heroine speaks only English. On other hand Raftaar doesn't understand a single word of it. Enter Emily (Lara Dutta), a nerdy translator to their rescue. Expect some sparks to flow between our Punjabi munda and the Romania ki chori ? Well, that does happen! But hey wait! A film without villain? Too boring naa? So there we have Marc (Kay Kay Menon) who loves to add a little drama to spice up things because he is too good! Now will Mr Singh get his Kaur?
Performances: Akshay Kumar perfectly fits into the shoes of Raftaar Singh without going overboard. He is charming and endearing enough to make you forget the 'over-the-top' treatment of his character. Amy Jackson does not really act much but pulls off her action scenes with ease. Kay Kay Menon plays a villain with a comic streak. Some of his dialogues will leave you in splits but we wished that there was more depth to his role. Lara Dutta is back on the silver screen and this time she isn't romancing anyone! Her loud expressions seem a tad weird and annoying. Definitely not a memorable comeback for this gorgeous actress! Rati Agnihotri and Yograj Singh have limited scopes in their roles. The rest of the cast lend good support to the leads.
Direction: 'Singh Is Bliing' is yet another masala flick from the Prabhudheva stable. He offers you things that he is known for- huge doses of drama, action scenes and romance with a bit of tadka. He has executed all these elements fair enough. The film boosts of some stunning cinematography and good action sequences. However the music and the songs are a huge let-down. You won't even remember much of them post exiting the cinema hall. The dialogues work in parts and pieces. The predictable story can be yawn-inducing at times. (Mind you! Finding logic in this film's plot is highly hazardous to your health!). Also the editing could have been a bit more crispier.
Combo-on-offer: Romance+ Drama+ Action
Verdict: We give 'Singh Is Bliing' Claps for it gives your tiresome brains some rest. Grab that bucket of popcorn, let logic go out of the window and we believe that you will enjoy this fun-ride!
