From “Hum toh chale the dost ban ke, jaane kahaan Dil Mil Gaye” to “Main jo jee raha hu, wajah tum ho”, actor Karan Singh Grover has come a long way! Considered as one of the most handsome men of television, he has had his share of controversies regarding his personal life; but manages to prove his critics wrong every time he gets back at doing what he does best- Acting.
Sitting comfortably on his couch at his usual best giving instant replies, he is all excited about his second movie ‘Hate Story 3’, and his journey ahead as a movie actor.
Q. How would you describe your journey from ‘Dil Mil Gaye’ to ‘Hate Story 3’?
A. What I have tried to do since back then is do different kind of roles. In ‘Dil Mil Gaye’ it was a complete lover boy role, just the way I am in real life. ‘Qubool Hai’ was somebody who was a really very serious man with a lot of childhood baggages. And now ‘Hate Story 3’ is completely negative character. So as I said, I have always tried to do different kind of roles so that I can grow as an actor.
Q. How was your experience working with Sharman Joshi?
A. It was amazing. He is such a versatile actor who has done really great work in the past. And it is so comfortable working with him that when I was doing scenes with him, it felt like my performance was getting improved. So yes, it was a privilege working with him.
Q. Whom do you think your chemistry was better with - Zareen Khan or Daisy Shah?
A. I think we all played our parts right. The role are different…Daisy’s role is different and Zareen’s role is different; and their chemistry with me is different. So I think everyone played the part well and the chemistry came along the way it was supposed to; and which would be visible on-screen too for the people to witness.
Q. You have been the man every family used to watch on their television sets and adore. So how different would it be for them to see you do a role like this?
A. It will be very different and might quite shocking as well. But from my point of view, that’s the only way an actor can grow. So yes, I am trying to be versatile and it’s a risk. But if it’s received well then it would be a risk well-taken.
Q. Would you like to speak about your upcoming projects?
A. I am shooting for a film called 3-Dev. It’s a satire…comedy…family film. It’s about three orphans- Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh and it’s basically about our belief system in God. And the other one I can’t talk about for now.
Q. What is that one quality that can make you have a Hate Story with a person?
A. I don’t like two-faced people. I rather like people who would present themselves just the way they are.
Q. Any message to your fans, especially the thousands of girls who love you?
A. (Laughs) To everyone I would like to say that I have taken a risk by doing a role like this and I hope it pays off. It is something I have enjoyed doing because it is very different from the roles I have done so I hope they like it. If you love me then please do go and watch the film.
Here’s wishing KSG all the luck for the movie and his further journey in Bollywood!
