Star Cast: Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Madison Wolfe, Frances O’Connor, Bob Adrian, Lauren Esposito, Patrick McAuley and Benjamin Haigh
Director: James Wan
Producer: Peter Safran, Rob Cowan and James Wan
What’s New: Sequel to one of the spookiest flicks, with double the thrills and chills!
Popcorn Refill: Strictly Interval
Plot: Six years after the Amityville case, it’s time for the paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren to face their biggest challenge far away from their homeland.
The duo travel all the way to London to investigate the paranormal happenings at the Enfield Council House; where the spirit of an old man has been oppressing the Hodgson family, with the help of their daughter Janet.
What does he want? Will the two be able to save the little girl from the clutches of the demon? Or is there more to the story than what their eyes can see?
Performances: While Patrik Wilson and Vera Farmiga charm yet again as Ed and Lorraine Warren respectively, Madison Wolfe (as Janet) stands out as the show stealer. The film belongs to these three actors.
Not to miss out on the scenes where the demon speaks through Janet, or when Ed interviews a possessed Janet for the first time - that scene not just showcases their excellent acting skills but also speaks volumes about the wonderful cinematography and direction.
Direction: Unlike ‘The Conjuring’, this one takes its own time to build up and gain the much-required momentum. However, even during those scenes, the horror-flick doesn’t fail to startle you every now and then.
Undoubtedly a much bigger and longer flick than the previous one, Set inside a small and realistic house this time, this one hs its share of twists and turns. Wan makes sure that the longer duration of the movie just not remains limited to the spine-chilling scenes but also to a few emotional and sweet moments that would set the mood of the film.
Wan builds every scene in such a way that from a knob to the TV remote, everything will look like an object of suspicion that might just make you jump out of your seats.
Background score and sound effects play a major part in horror flicks and the team of ‘The Conjuring 2’ surely knows how to make the spooky scenes even scarier with the audio.
Overall, this one is at par with the first movie of the series, and is surely a must watch for all the horror-film fans!
Combo-On-Offer: Horror + Emotion
Verdict: We give ‘The Conjuring 2’ THUNDEROUS CLAPS for being at par with the first instalment, and letting us hold the arm of the chair tight…very tight!
