Star Cast: Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, Naomi Watts and Jeff Daniels
Director: Robert Schwentke
Producer: Lucy Fisher, Douglas Wick and Pouya Shabazian
Claps For: VFX, Miles Teller
Slaps For: Predictable storyline, direction and screenplay
What’s New: Nothing
Popcorn Refill: Anytime you want!
Story: Continuing from where the previous installment ‘Insurgent’ left off, ‘Allegiant’ is about how Tris, Four and a bunch of other people manage to cross the wall and get out of Chicago to find the Bureau of Genetic Welfare in the other land and its operations to cure and save the human kind, while Four’s mother wages war against the Factionless.
This one would disappoint you if you are a Shailene Woodley fan, especially if ‘Divergent’ made you one! Though she gives her best, there’s nothing much for her to do than play a Jennifer Lawrence from ‘The Hunger Games’ minus a meatier character.
Theo James is the eye candy for the girls out there.
All Ansel Elgort does is make “oh I am so guilty, I will pay back by being nice to you” face throughout the movie.
Perhaps the only performance that manages to entertain a bit in this otherwise lifeless movie is that of Miles Teller. He is fun to watch, despite the little scenes and dialogues that he has got.
Direction: The movie is plain boring. Neither does it entertain, nor does it manage to keep us hooked to the screens out of excitement to know what’s going to happen next.
With zero dramatic moments, weak screenplay, predictable storyline and poor dialogues, this Robert Schwentke movie only creates problems for ‘The Divergent Series’ and its upcoming installment ‘Ascendant’.
While a lot had been happening in ‘Divergent’ and ‘Insurgent’, the graph comes crashing down in this one. Looks like the director was completely dependent on the VFX. So much, that his art of storytelling gets affected by a ton, which could have saved the movie from being what it has turned out to be.
Combo-On-Offer: Action + Drama + VFX
Verdict: We give the movie TIGHT SLAPS for being a dull, predictable and boring.
