Movie Review: Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe are here to tickle your funny bones as 'The Nice Guys'
Star Cast: Russell Crowe, Ryan Gosling, Angourie Rice, Matt Bomer, Margaret Qualley and Kim Basinger

Director: Shane Black

Producer: Joel Silver

Claps For: Ryan Gosling, Russell Crowe, Direction, Humor and Dialogues

Slaps For: Nothing

Popcorn Refill: Interval

What’s New: Nothing

Plot: 1977 Los Angeles. Holland March, a down-on-his-luck private detective, and Jackson Healy, a hored enforcer who hurts people for a living come together to search for Amelia- a woman who mysteriously disappeared. As they get deeper into the investigation, they trace back its roots to pornography and realize that every person involved with the case is dead.

Performances: Ryan Gosling steals the show with his performance as the down-on-his-luck private detective who thinks he is smart but ends up goofing up most of the times. It’s hard not to stop yourself from laughing when he gives a deadpan expression after making a mistake or when he shrieks after spotting a dead body.

Russell Crowe is equally impressive as the silent, brooding and intense enforcer who develops affection for Gosling and his daughter over a period of time. His contrasting personality makes his chemistry for Gosling a complete treat to watch!

Margaret Qualley gets very little screen time, and when she does get to say her share of dialogues- you realize why she was given such a small (but important) part.

Angourie Rice is completely adorable as Gosling’s daughter who doesn’t agree with her father’s methods and goes out of her way to help him every time.

Direction: While crime dramas these days are a fast-paced thriller, Shane Black keep it easy going with a pleasant pace without letting you slip back into you mobile phone screens even for a second. He keeps the crime-drama element of the movie intact, along with a dose of humor every now and then.

Despite being a formula film, Shane Black’s treatment to the movie and the chemistry between the lead actors makes this one worth the watch.

Combo-On-Offer: Action + Crime Drama + Comedy

Verdict: We give the movie CLAPS for being a humorous detective drama along with great chemistry between Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling.
