Chocolate boy Shahid Kapoor, the then heartthrob of Bollywood states “A films success doesn't always ensure more film offers†Really? We thought for the longest time that a good comeback ensures a barrage of film offers to struggling actors like our dear Shahid. Maybe in his case, it may not be the case. Or is it that filmmakers don't want to work with him anymore?
The latter being true has more chances in his case. The actor has been around in the industry for close to 10 years but each new film of his feel like his comeback film. Moreover, all his films come in long awaited installments. So what could be reasons for his career strings being pulled on & off?
- • He is not your quintessential “Dhai kilo ka haath†type hindi hero film. He's more chocolate boyish which drastically narrows down his fan following as well.
- • He looks younger than most of his co-stars so pairing him with actresses could be a big issue for filmmakers.
- • Also, there's a whole lineup of new & fresh looking faces in the industry in the recent past like Siddhartha Malhotra, Varun Dhavan, Aditya Roy Kapoor & Arjun Kapoor.
- • Last but not the least, the actor has been known to be egoistic.
In a recent interview, he said that “A hit film may not get you more offers†which is the opposite funda in Bollywood but this is what works for him! He says that inspite of Vivah being a success, he was still jobless but his dream project Mausam, directed by his father Pankaj Kapoor, gave him 18 film offers even though the film was a flop. But we are wondering if he got 18 projects in 2011, why did he not appear in any film until R…Rajkumar?
As an actor, he gave us hit films like Ishq Vishk his debut film, Fida, Jab We Met opposite his ex girlfriend Kareena Kapoor and Kaminey paired with Priyanka Chopra. As an actor, he has not had too many hits films to boast about but had many flops which can be counted on the tip of our fingers.
Not seeing Shahid in a film had been a long time until R…Rajkumar was released last month where film critics criticized the film but he got the love of the audience. But was his acting worth an applaud? We think the opposite. After R…Rajkumar, is it the end to Shahid's career? Or will his career boom out of nowhere? We will wait and watch but seriously we don't wish to see you anymore Shahid!
