“Typical” Bollywood's transition from 'DDLJ' to 'Dabanng'
Ask any movie lover around the world & he'll say the same thing, “Bollywood movies? Right, I see men and women running around trees & beautiful snow capped mountains with lots of flowers kissing each other. I also see loads of action & drama.” I always wondered how they managed to plug in songs after almost every shot? “But I love Bollywood movies, they offer 360 degree human emotions packaged in 3 hours, full throttle!” ;)

I have grown up watching Bollywood movies with mum on Sunday afternoons. Movies like Baazigar, Darr, Joh Jita Wohi Sikander, Dil, DDLJ & the rest of all those you can make out on the poster up there  Avid lovers of Bollywood like me want nothing else than to curl up on their couch and watch 'Karz, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam…' all the time. “Aye do chai kyun? Ek chai wapas, do dost hamesha ek pyali se chai peete hain!” freshens me up any time of the day.

Over the years, Bollywood's changed & how! Especially in the recent past, I have been caught by surprise because this “transition” has been so fast. One afternoon I'm watching '3 Idiots' & getting used to the idea of superstars leading the way, the next I hear Salman's planning 'Dabanng'! And I'm like what? After some time, I watch the movie & I'm like “I like the movie, it's very “funny” but where was the script?” My friend helped me out here, she said, “Bollywood's taken after Tollywood. We've bid goodbye to original Bollywood, now it's time to recognize Tollywood in Bollywood.”Superstars of typical Bollywood are opting for original acting in remake movies. Of course, they add more glamour to the whole Tollywood bit. We are a more sophisticated audience of course? ROFL. It's the flavor of the season; she forgot to infer this season was going to be a long season. Being the Bollywood lover I'm like “Let's see what's it got in store for us” ;)

It had 'Dabanng', 'Singam', 'Ghajini' & the whole 100 crore club frenzy. It had more of South India ever mentioned in Bollywood before! Lol Suddenly there was a whole new league of South Indian actors wanting to act in the Bollywood remake of their own films. All this change 'Aiyya' & much more. Now we are waiting for 'Jai Ho' to release, aren't we?

Seems like where one side of Bollywood superstars have chosen to entertain us with remakes, we have another side showing us movies like 'Vicky Donor', 'Lunch Box' & 'Madras Café'; even 'Dirty Picture' for that matter. What the heck? We're enjoying all of it!

Kindly note: This Blog has clearly stated 'Typical Bollywood'. We are not talking about that dimension of Bollywood cinema that's deals with 'Gangs of Wasseypur, A Wednesday & Saheb Biwi aur Gangster' types.

You see Bollywood has many sides to it. We shall bisect it one at a time, FYI ;)

Watch out for this space. We have lots more surprising even shocking reads coming up just for you dear non-biased Bollywood lover.

Keep Rocking,
Rockkomilla
