Maleficent is a dark fantasy directed by Robert Stromberg from the screenplay written by Linda Woolverton, starring Angelina Jolie in the lead. Producer Joe Roth stated that if it was not for her, there was no point in making the movie since A.J seemed the only person who could pull off the part. Angie was anyway accustomed to frightening little girls when she was in costume and makeup during shoots; this led to the decision of hiring her as well as her daughter, Vivienne for the role of the young Princess Aurora, since Vivienne wouldn't fear her very own mother.
Being filmed in Buckinghamshire the film unlike focusing on Sleeping Beauty concentrates on the perspective of her antagonist, the evil fairy maleficent who cursed her to prick her finger on a spinning wheel and die before the sun sets on her sixteenth birthday.
The movie's music is scored by veteran James Newton Howard and Lana Del Rey. Del Rey was handpicked by Jolie.
Special effects by seven-time Academy Award winner Rick Baker and the credible acting by Jolie, makes Maleficent 2014's must-watch!
