Also known as the 'Showman', Subhash Ghai started his career in Hindi cinema as an actor with small roles in films including 'Taqdeer' (1967) and 'Aradhana' (1971). He played the male lead in films like 'Umang' and 'Gumraah'. In 1976 he made his directorial debut with 'Kalicharan' which turned out to be a smashing hit. His other noted works include 'Hero', 'Karma', 'Ram Lakhan', 'Khalnayak', 'Pardes', 'Taal' amongst others.
