The box-office reports of Shashanka Ghosh's 'Khoobsurat' and Habib Faisal's 'Daawat-e-Ishq' after the second weekend suggest that both the films have earned well at the box-office. 'Khoobsurat stands at a total of 22 crores, collecting about 1.25 crores on Friday and 1.75 crores on Saturday. 'Daawat-e-Ishq' has a total box-office collection of 22.75 crores, collecting over 1 crore on Friday and 1.30 crores on Saturday.
Daawat-e-Ishq was expected to do better than Khoobsurat on account of being exposed to a higher screen count. However, the latter caught up because of a positive word of mouth. While Dawaat-e-Ishq has a screen count of 1600, Khoobsurat was only exposed to about 1200 screens, with the number of single screen cinema halls being close to nil.
Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapur starred in 'Daawat-e-Ishq', which lost points for a confusing and dull plot line, as claimed by critics. Sonam Kapoor starred alongside Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in the remake of the 1980 Rekha starrer film with the same title.
Another reason why both these films may have done well and had increasing numbers over the weekend is the fact that all of the new releases proved to be a dud at the box-office and didn't appeal to the audience. Although both films have earned close to the same amount at the domestic box-office, Daawat-e-Ishq has slightly better results.
