Amidst controversies and protest over Aamir Khan's 'PK', the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to exempt the movie from entertainment tax.
According to reports, Chief Minister Akilesh Yadav has watched the movie and has directed that such film should be exempted from the entertainment tax.
The portrayal of Hindu sentiments in the movie has evoked criticism across the state. Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV) activists yesterday burnt the effigy of Aamir Khan and staged a protest against the screening of 'PK' at a cinema hall in Bareilly. Similar protests occurred across Ahmedabad, Madhya Pradesh and other states.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis denied making a probe in the film and has reportedly said that since the Censor Board has given the film a green signal, no interruption should occur in the screenings of the film.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, 'PK' also starred Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput, Boman Irani and Saurabh Shukla in the lead.
