Recently Omung Kumar revealed that convincing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the 'Sarabjit Singh' biopic was not difficult as she agreed to do it in 15 minutes.
The 'Mary Kom' director was quoted saying, "We directly approached Aishwarya as I know her for a long time. After meeting her, she agreed to do the film in just 15 minutes as the role was demanding and she could see herself in the role. So she instantly said yes."
Though the film is Sarabjit's story, it will be told through the eyes of his sister, Dalbir Kaur, who after he was convicted of terrorism and spying by the Pakistani court and sentenced to death in 1991, started a campaign for his release. Thanks to her efforts and that of the Indian government, Sarabjit's execution was indefinitely delayed. But he was attacked on April 26, 2013 in the Central Jail Lahore and on May 1, was declared brain dead.
Randeep Hooda will be essaying the role of Sarabjit Singh whereas Aishwarya will play his sister, Dalbir Kaur.
Omung further added,"Everyone already knows about the actors and they're final. The script is complete. Location hunting is currently on and we're looking for a November-December-January shoot for the film. The workshop is scheduled for next month."
