Actors and actresses learning a particular sport to get into their character is not new. We've seen Shah Rukh Khan learn hockey for ‘Chak De! India’, Arjun Kapoor play Kabaddi for ‘Tevar’, Priyanka Chopra turn boxer in ‘Mary Kom’, Sonakshi Sinha learn boxing for ‘Holiday’, Parineeti Chopra playing golf in ‘Kill Dil’ among others. And now it seems it is Alia Bhatt's turn to learn something new! The actress will be seen essaying the role of a hockey player in her next, ‘Udta Punjab’ where she is paired opposite Shahid Kapoor.
According to a report in a leading daily, Alia has been regularly going for hockey training for about two hours in the morning. She has been doing so for over two weeks now. In fact the actress is training in the morning from 7am-9am in order to avoid prying eyes.
Interestingly, a few days ago, Alia had even shared a pic of a hockey stick- on her Instagram account and captioned it, “My new friend.”
While it didn't make sense then, now we can certainly connect the dots.
Directed by Abhishek Chaunbey, the film is set in Punjab and deals with the serious issues of drug abuse in the state. Shahid kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan will also be seen essaying pivotal roles in the film.
