Anurag Kashyap's magnum opus 'Bombay Velvet' is one of the most awaited films of this year. The director has recreated the 60s era for the film. Everything has been designed and created from scratch, right from the sets to the actors' looks and costumes.
Since the costumes belong to that period, they have been intricately designed and are very heavy. In fact, the entire casts’ costumes collectively weigh about 25,000 kg. Now, the makers of the film have decided to auction some of the costumes and donate the proceeds to charity.
About 1,200 to 1,500 of Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma’s costumes will be auctioned online next week. Thus, people stand an exclusive chance to own their outfits. A lot of detailing and effort has gone into each and every costume.
Numerous tailors were hired to stitch the outfits. In fact, besides the lead actors and supporting cast, even the junior artistes were wearing elaborate costumes.
'Bombay Velvet', directed by Anurag Kashyap and produced by Phantom Films, is the tale of a street fighter, Johnny Balraj (Ranbir Kapoor) who aspires to be a BigShot. But his life turns topsy-turvy with the entry of jazz singer, Rosie Noronha (Anushka Sharma) and media baron, Kaizad Khambata (Karan Johar). It is slated to release on 15th May.
