The actor’s big ticket debut was Mahesh Bhatt’s 'Saaransh' in 1984, during which he was seen essaying the place of a retired middle class Maharashtrian man who loses his son. He even bagged the Filmfare Greatest Actor Award for this film.
Since then, Anupam has entertained the viewers with a mix of flicks within the comedy and drama genres and has moreover carried out the villain similar to his acclaimed place as terrorist Dr. Dang in 'Karma' in 1986.
Married to actress Kirron Kher, Anupam is known internationally for 'Bend It Like Beckham', 'Bride and Prejudice' and “The Mistress of Spices”. In 2012, he was a part of the Academy Award-profitable 'Silver Linings Playbook'.
In 2004, the actor was honoured with the Padma Shri for his contribution to Indian cinema.
