Anurag Basu says he always wanted to adopt Tagore stories for TV

Anurag Basu is one of the most talented directors in Bollywood. However, very few people know that the writer-turned-director had a humble beginning. He began his journey from the small screen. Anurag started his career as an assistant director on the sets of the popular TV show 'Tara'. He had even directed Balaji Telefilms hit show 'Koshish: Ek Asha' before venturing into films.

His last outing 'Barfi' was highly appreciated by the critics and audience alike. His upcoming detective film 'Jagga Jasoos' starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif is slated to release on 3rd June next year.

Recently, Anurag took to the microblogging site, Twitter to post about his latest project. He tweeted, Wish Fulfilled!ThankYou @EpicchannelIn Always wanted to adopt Tagore Stories For TV #Firstlook #StoriesByRabindranathTagore on Sat."

He will be recreating the magic of old Bengal through some of Rabindranath Tagore’s short stories and novels like 'Chokher Bali', 'Charulata' and 'Atithi', which will be aired on a historical channel. The director is quite thrilled about being given this opportunity.
