Bollywood singer Arijit Singh took everyone by surprise when he wrote a long post on his Facebook page seeking apology from Salman Khan for a joke made on stage during an award function back in 2014.
It all began when Arijit walked on stage in casual clothes and slippers – after falling asleep backstage after a long workday – to collect his award from Salman. Salman, at the time, asked him what happened, and the singer responded saying “you guys put me to sleep.” Arijit says he did so out of nervousness, but realised immediately that he maybe must have said something wrong, and apologised in Salman’s ear when the actor hugged him. He also apparently followed that up with an apology text at night, and an even longer apology note – which he said Salman responded to the next day, rebuking him for his behaviour but also adding that he was okay.
In an exclusive interview to Mumbai Mirror Arijit revealed, "When he hugged me on the stage, I apologised in his ear and went back. The same night I texted him a “sorry“ and followed it up with a long apology note. He replied in the morning with a rebuke and advised me on how to behave. But he added that he was okay, which made me happy and relieved. It was only later that I realised he wasn’t. I have been apologising for almost three years now."
Later who recorded a song for Sultan learned that his track was being dropped from the film, and said he heard it was because Salman didn’t want his voice in the final master. But according to the leading tabloid, Salman wasn't the one to take this call; it was something the producers and director did, and the actor himself isn't holding any grudges against the 'Tum Hi Ho' singer.
Meanwhile Arijit is planning to land up at Salman's residence to apologize in person. He further revealed, "I tried to reach him last night as well but in vain. So I resorted to a social media apology hoping it will reach him. I knew people would misinterpret it and when it instigated arguments I thought I should remove it. I am not in Mumbai at the moment or I'd have gone to his apartment last night. I am going to do that once I am back. I have hopes that he will be fine with me one day."
Meanwhile what do you guys have to say about this entire controversy?
